Chapter Activities and Projects


 Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude sends care packages filled with entertainment, hygiene, and handmade items, non-perishable snacks, and personal letters of appreciation to U.S. Troops, First Responders, Veterans, Military Families, and Wounded Heroes & their Care Givers.  Fernanda Maria Chapter supports Operation Gratitude with donations of items, including handmade scarves and hats.  Chapter members also donate their time to assist in assembling packages.

Volunteering at the Sepulveda VA

The Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center (SACC) is part of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and is the major outpatient facility charged with caring for the 1.4 million veterans living in Northern Los Angeles.  The Sepulveda Center is affiliated with UCLA Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, to assure a high standard of care.  Fernanda Maria Chapter supports the Sepulveda Center with volunteer time as well as much needed items for veterans.

DAR Schools


Fernanda Maria Chapter supports DAR Schools, including the Crossnore School, founded in 1913 in North Carolina. Crossnore is a private, residential foster care home for children in crisis. 

Wreaths Across America


Fernanda Maria Chapter remembers and honors veterans through participation in the Wreaths Across America project.  Wreaths are placed at National Cemeteries once a year on the third Saturday in December. Fernanda Maria supports wreaths placed at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.

American Indians

Each Chapter meeting includes a Native American Minute, a brief informative presentation focused on the history and culture of American Indians.


Chapter meetings include a Conservation Minute, highlighting recent research findings or news related to the environment and conservation.
